A Piece of History, Beautifully Restored

At LR Roofing, we were proud to deliver a specialist restoration project at the Grade II listed Sudbury Gas Works in Staffordshire — contributing to the preservation of one of the area’s most iconic historic buildings.

This project was much more than just a roofing job. It was about respecting heritage, applying traditional craftsmanship, and securing the future of a local treasure for generations to come.

Our Scope of Works

Working closely with the Sudbury Gasworks Restoration Trust and their vision for the site, our team carried out sensitive and skilled roofing repairs, tailored to the requirements of a listed property.

Our works included:

  •  Careful removal of all original mortar and flaunching

  • Installation of new lead flashings to listed-building specifications 

  • Replacement of broken and damaged tiles, matched sympathetically to the existing roof 

  • Full repointing using traditional lime mortar techniques 

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and respectful site throughout the works 


We’re also grateful to CJW Scaffold for providing and erecting a secure scaffolding system, ensuring the safety of both our team and the public during the project.
